Most of the farmsteads in Lombardy, Northern Italy, grow around a common court where the inhabitants used to keep animals and grow a vegetable patch. Nowadays, few people still live in these buildings. Close to Villa Arconati (Bollate) a group of twenty people still live as sixty years ago. Laundry dries in the central court, a telephone boot used to serve everyone, and every Tuesday a car brings these people to the local super market.
